In with the new…

Whoa. I really thought I’d posted since the start of the new year, but I guess I haven’t. It’s been pretty busy, though. School started back on the 3rd and it’s been a bit of a whirlwind. I’ve been catching up on some things here at home and try to start a few new things.

MOC has started at The Lilypad and as of today, I am caught up. We’ll see if it stays that way haha You can find my pages under the Scrap Pages tab at the top and a link to my gallery there! It’s not too late to join in if you want to have some fun and possibly gain some new skills!

I also have a couple of new release pages for this week! Just Jaimee has a beautiful new add on to the January Storyteller available!

And River~Rose has this beautiful kit. It was wonderful for scrapping how much I miss my dad every day.

I also wanted to share my planner for this year. I went with a TN style this year and am loving it so much so far! This is what I have for January and it’s all using Just Jaimee’s Travelers Notebook Kit for this month and the first couple of weeks.

Thanks for stopping by and I will be back soon to share more! Until then…peace, out…

Out with the old…

December and 2018 are quickly coming to a close. Christmas has come and gone, and it was wonderful! But now it’s time to look to 2019. I have worked really hard the last few days to finalize both DYD and my PL for 2018, and I did it!! All in the books and ready to start fresh with the new year. Full disclosure that I did actually skip on week of PL this year. It was the first full week in September and I honestly had no photos whatsoever. I blame it on going back to work and just being beat. I was going to try to go back and fill in some things, but in the end decided to just let it go *sings loudly*.

You can find both finished projects on their pages! I have already started new pages for 2019 and a new page for MOC 7! If you don’t know anything about MOC, it’s a challenge a day for the entire month of January! It’s so much fun and I always learn so much! If you complete all 31 challenges, you win a $20 gift certificate to The Lilypad and you will have 31 amazing pages! You can register for MOC here – https://the-lilypad.com/forum/threads/month-of-challenges-7-will-you-accept-the-challenge.59164/ . It is so much fun!! The challenges, the friendship, the support, and the just plain fun!!

December Days…

They sure do seem to fly by! We welcomed a new addition on Dec. 13. My daughter had a baby girl and we are all in love, especially her big brother. That kept me pretty occupied for a few days. They are settling in at home now and we are all scrambling to finish getting ready for Christmas. I am finished shopping and wrapping and now only have the cooking for dinner to do. We don’t do a traditional type dinner because I am never sure when we will have company, so I plan on making a few different finger foods and appetizers to have on hand.

But, the main reason that I am here is to share my layouts for this week. Just a few of them because of all the crazy going on around me, but there were sure some stunning new releases this week! And you’ll see our new addition in a couple of these pages 🙂

Moving along…

December is moving right along and moving along with it are my daily pages. At this point, I am a couple of days behind, but with my foundation pages done, I will be caught up in no time. It’s just a matter of plopping in the photos and adding a bit of journaling.

Here is where I am to this point:

Whoa, whoa…

I’m not sure where the time is speeding off to, but I am not nearly ready for Christmas to get here. I still have shopping and baking to do and it seems like no time to do it. I’ve been snowed in for a couple of days, so I’ve been catching up on things here in the house and did get my presents wrapped, but I’m beginning to feel the panic. I also have a grandbaby coming in the next day-ish. My daughter goes in to be induced tonight, and hopefully she will be here bright and early tomorrow. So, today is the day that I need to get out and get some things done, but I wanted to come by here really quick to share some pages from the weekend when I let time get away from me!

Sales and more sales…

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We had a traditional dinner on Thursday with all the kids and one of the grandkids. The other two were at their other parents’ house and we missed them.

Are you a Black Friday shopper? I’m not so much. I don’t like the crowds and the parking and all that jazz, but I have been trying to scoop up deals online as I find them. I don’t have any particularly spectacular ones to share, except in the digi-scrapping community! Yes, there are Black Friday sales there, and they are not to be missed. Along with some upcoming Cyber Monday sales! Here are just a few of the things you  can pick up this weekend:

And with all this scrapping, I’m behind on getting my DYD pages prepared and my PL, but I hope to be back on those tomorrow while I work on another little project that’s due in December 🙂 I hope that you enjoy the rest of your weekend and find some time to relax in the madness! Until next time, peace, out…

Documenting December…

Yes, I realize it’s still November and lots of people get kind of upset when we start talking Christmas before Thanksgiving has even happened, but trust me, there is a reason behind my madness.

I absolutely love doing a document your December project every year. It helps to get me through the long dark cold days and has rejuvenated my love of Christmas. I will admit to being a total scrooge in the past and severely lacking in Christmas spirit.

I thought that I would take a little bit of time to explain my approach to documenting my December, what’s worked and what hasn’t, and how I manage to finish every year.

This is my 7th year doing this project, and if you’d like to see my completed pages from previous years, you can check out the December Daily portion of my blog. I will start by saying that I do my project completely digitally. I so admire hybrid and physical projects, and there are so many inspirational albums and books on Pinterest and in other places, but I know that if I tried to do something similar, I would never finish. At this point, I don’t really have the time to commit to doing the printing and cutting and all that goes in to a beautiful physical album. I can whip out digital pages pretty quickly.

There are tons of other options and some of the cutest hybrid examples I have seen are little 4×4 flip books. Also, many do full 12×12 pages. I do my project in 6×8 size simply because it seems to be the easiest for me to manage. After all, the ultimate goal is to finish the project, right?

I start by finding the perfect set of templates. This year I chose December Memories 2018 by Desgined by Soco.

Then I decide on the color scheme and choose the kits I want to use. This year, I am using pieces from Document Your December – Tis the Season at The Lilypad.

I create a folder and name it DYD. I have sections for Kits, Foundation Pages, and pages that I intend to share on the web. By doing this, I only have one location I need to go to to find what I need.

Then I start, usually about the middle of November, creating foundation pages. I start adding papers, cards, and elements, and then the numbers for each of the days. These are by no means set in stone. If my photos end up working better on another layout, I simply switch out the numbers. Here are a few of the foundation pages I’ve done so far:

For these pages, I have used pieces by Rachel Jefferies, Sahin Designs, Sahlin Studio, Etc. by Danyale, and Pink Reptile Designs.

I’m almost half way through December and, as long as I stay on track doing a couple of pages a day, I should be ready to go when December starts! Then it’s just time to take the photos and add the journaling! While some like to keep a Christmas theme to their projects, I tend to just document whatever is going on in our lives on that day. Sometimes it is Christmas and sometimes it’s not, but it’s all about the joy of this time of year.

One of our wonderful creative team members at TLP, Farrah, has created a list of prompts that may come in handy if I’m ever stuck for what to photograph.

I will screenshot this image and save it to my phone for easy reference, and I might even make it my phone background for December so that I can remember.

My biggest tip if you are wanting to document your December is to be prepared. Get started early, create foundation pages, and be ready to go when December starts. We all know how busy it can get!

Thanks for stopping by and I’d love to see your December projects!! Until next time… peace, out…

Simply Sunday…

I seriously behind on sharing my layouts for Simple Scrapper. I just cannot say enough good things about this community.  I love being a part of the team at Simple Scrapper. I really feel like it helps me to create some meaningful, purposeful layouts and inspires me to create pages that I may not have thought of otherwise. The Premium Membership offers exclusive content and a supportive, generous, and inspiring community. Some of the benefits include a private Facebook group, Spark Magazine, chats, podcasts, sketches, and story starters. Totally awesome!

Currently, there is an organization challenge going on that I really need to dive in to! This week’s challenge is all about photographing and organizing memorabilia to be included in your scrapbooking. I can totally get on board with this! There are just so many things at Simple Scrapper to motivate and inspire all different kinds of scrapbookers. So, if you are looking for a supportive and inclusive community to be a part of, I encourage you to check out Simple Scrapper’s Premium Membership!

Here are my layouts for October and November:

Most Wonderful Time…

I know I’ve mentioned before that I am not a fan of cold weather, winter, snow, any of that stuff. The shorter days can really get me down. But, there are a couple of things that keep me going through a lot of those days. One of those is my December Daily project. I just added a page here on the site for it and my cover page is done. I’ve also been working on some foundation pages so that I have it all ready to go when December starts. I’m trying to do a couple of pages a day, so that come December 1st, all I have to remember to do is take the photos. I talk a little bit about my process and other ways of going about it in this thread – DYD Sizes and Styles – at The Lilypad. I may come back one day soon and share a little more detail here. Everything I’ve used is from the Document Your December section of The Lilypad store. You can also check out what I’ve done in previous years in the December Daily section here on the blog.

For now, here’s my cover for this year:
