Simply Tuesday

I often say that Tuesdays are the forgotten day of the week. Mondays seem to be the days that everyone dreads, Wednesdays are hump day, Thursdays mean it’s almost the weekend, and everyone loves Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. But what about poor little Tuesday? Today, I’m celebrating Tuesday by catching up on all the layouts for Simple Scrapper that I am behind on posting. Yikes. I really have to do better about that.  I’m pretty sure I have quite a few that I need to catch up on! 2020 has been a messed up year!

I love being a part of the team at Simple Scrapper. I really feel like it helps me to create some meaningful, purposeful layouts and inspires me to create pages that I may not have thought of otherwise. So far behind…

Whew!! I got so far behind on my PL weekly spreads! I hadn’t let that happen all year, but going back to work and all the things leading up to it just took it out of me! I have been able to spend part of this long weekend getting caught up again and it’s such a relief.

I give most of the credit to the Stories of Life Templates created by Scrapping with Liz and Just Jaimee‘s Storyteller Collections! Both of these make it so super easy to get caught up!! If you are looking to do a project like this, I highly recommend!!

Here are the last few weeks…

I still need to work on this past week, but I will do that in the next few days!! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and have a fantastic week ahead! Thanks for stopping by!!

Man, oh man….

I really let the time and days slip up on me! The days leading up to school starting are always pretty busy, but this year it was beyond crazy. Not knowing how the year would start, what it would look like, what would be expected from us…it’s all been a little nuts. Also learning lots of new things.

I am hoping now that we are back in school and things are more routine, I will be able to get on more of a schedule.

I’m stopping by today because it’s the start of a new month and that means an all new BYOC at The Lilypad! The colors this month are stunning and I know you will love it as much as I do! Here are a few layouts I created:

Scrap Sunday…

Hey all! I meant to come by yesterday and share some amazing new releases for this week, but life happens. My daughter is getting married in October, so we spent the day yesterday dress shopping. She found a beautiful one on our last stop. After I got home, I was just exhausted and didn’t accomplish anything else! So here I am today and the sales are still active if you are looking for some beautiful new goodies!!

Love-You

This is not a new kit, but Christmas in July is happening at The Lilypad and I am hosting one of the challenges! I am not a fan of thinking about Christmas this time of year, so my challenge is to scrap a non-Christmas page using a Christmas kit. You can find it HERE if you want to play along! There’s a $3 coupon up for grabs! I used Rachel Jefferies Fa La La La La Bundle for my prom page!

That’s it from me today! I’ll be back to share more in a day or so!! Thanks for stopping by and until next time…peace, out!

Scrap Saturday…

Happy Saturday, everyone!! I hope you’re having a lovely weekend!! It’s been a bit busy around the week or so, and I’m looking forward to some quiet relaxing time with my book this weekend. Probably a little scrapping as well!

Stopping by here today to share a couple of gorgeous new release with you!

Project Life Update…

Who out there is still doing Project Life or something similar? Are you keeping up and up to date for this year. As of right now, I am. I hope to stay that way!! I thought I’d drop by here and catch you up on some of my more recent pages. If you want to see the rest you can go to Project Life 2020 at the top of the page. All of my other years’ pages are there as well,  if you’re interested 🙂

We are officially half way through the year, and here’s to hoping that the second half is better than the first half. I could use a little peace and tranquility! I have kept up so far with my weekly spreads. From time to time I have to do a 2-3 week catch-up, but not a big deal. I am so enjoying using Stories of Life Templates by Scrapping with Liz, and Just Jaimee’s Storyteller Collections always help me get my books done with ease.

Here are the last few week’s pages 🙂

Technique Tuesday – Blending papers using the gradient tool

I thought I would take some time here and there to share some tutorials and techniques that I’ve learned and shared over time.

I’ve shared this post in a couple of forums and blogs, but I thought it would be fun to share it here. You can find the original post HERE.

Have you ever wanted to use more than one of those gorgeous background papers you have in a kit but don’t want the harsh line of stacking them? Do you have two or more papers that you think would work beautifully together? Blending papers for a background is something I do fairly often and there are actually several ways you can go about it.

One way is to use the gradient tool, which is what this tutorial is all about. It’s a fairly quick and simple way to achieve and beautiful new look.

Start by layering the the two papers you want to blend:

Capture1

With the top paper layer selected, click the layer mask icon:

Making sure the mask is selected, choose the gradient tool. Drag your gradient line from the top edge of the image to the bottom, or bottom to top, or side to side, or even diagonally, depending on the way you want the gradient to go. You can play around with different directions to see which effect you like best. You can also start in the anywhere on the paper to move the gradient closer to one edge or corner.

Capture3

For this one, I first went from bottom to top and then moved to the center of the paper and pulled up again. And just like that, your papers are beautifully blended!

You can also play around with different gradients to get different blending effects.

Capture5

If you wish, you can add more paper layers and blend them as well.

Typically, I will then take it a step further in PS and adjust the blending options (click the fx button at the bottom and choose blending options), especially on a woodgrain to bring out the texture a bit more. Adjusting the underlying layer just adds a little more blending. You can hold the alt key while sliding to separate the pieces of the triangle for different blending effects.

And here is my final page using this technique:

Super fun look to achieve and really easy peasy!! Hope this is helpful! I’ll be back to share some more tips and tricks next week 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!!

New week…

I’m super excited to be playing in my planner again and creating some fun pages!! For this week’s spread, I used This is Now: Misc Paperie, Miscellaneous Collage Bits and Bobs 1, and This is Now: Misc Bits and Bobs by Rachel Jefferies. I use a Happy Planner with the dashboard layout and it’s perfect for my life right now.

July-Planner-1

I took each of the elements and created my own sticker sheets. I print them and  cut them with my Silhouette Cameo. Have you ever used digital elements to create planner stickers? I am still learning, but it’s such fun!! Thanks for stopping by!!
