Whoa. I really thought I’d posted since the start of the new year, but I guess I haven’t. It’s been pretty busy, though. School started back on the 3rd and it’s been a bit of a whirlwind. I’ve been catching up on some things here at home and try to start a few new things.
MOC has started at The Lilypad and as of today, I am caught up. We’ll see if it stays that way haha You can find my pages under the Scrap Pages tab at the top and a link to my gallery there! It’s not too late to join in if you want to have some fun and possibly gain some new skills!
I also have a couple of new release pages for this week! Just Jaimee has a beautiful new add on to the January Storyteller available!
And River~Rose has this beautiful kit. It was wonderful for scrapping how much I miss my dad every day.
I also wanted to share my planner for this year. I went with a TN style this year and am loving it so much so far! This is what I have for January and it’s all using Just Jaimee’s Travelers Notebook Kit for this month and the first couple of weeks.
Thanks for stopping by and I will be back soon to share more! Until then…peace, out…
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We had a traditional dinner on Thursday with all the kids and one of the grandkids. The other two were at their other parents’ house and we missed them.
Are you a Black Friday shopper? I’m not so much. I don’t like the crowds and the parking and all that jazz, but I have been trying to scoop up deals online as I find them. I don’t have any particularly spectacular ones to share, except in the digi-scrapping community! Yes, there are Black Friday sales there, and they are not to be missed. Along with some upcoming Cyber Monday sales! Here are just a few of the things you can pick up this weekend:
At The Lilypad:
At The Digital Press:
And at Sweet Shoppe:
And with all this scrapping, I’m behind on getting my DYD pages prepared and my PL, but I hope to be back on those tomorrow while I work on another little project that’s due in December 🙂 I hope that you enjoy the rest of your weekend and find some time to relax in the madness! Until next time, peace, out…
Yes, I realize it’s still November and lots of people get kind of upset when we start talking Christmas before Thanksgiving has even happened, but trust me, there is a reason behind my madness.
I absolutely love doing a document your December project every year. It helps to get me through the long dark cold days and has rejuvenated my love of Christmas. I will admit to being a total scrooge in the past and severely lacking in Christmas spirit.
I thought that I would take a little bit of time to explain my approach to documenting my December, what’s worked and what hasn’t, and how I manage to finish every year.
This is my 7th year doing this project, and if you’d like to see my completed pages from previous years, you can check out the December Daily portion of my blog. I will start by saying that I do my project completely digitally. I so admire hybrid and physical projects, and there are so many inspirational albums and books on Pinterest and in other places, but I know that if I tried to do something similar, I would never finish. At this point, I don’t really have the time to commit to doing the printing and cutting and all that goes in to a beautiful physical album. I can whip out digital pages pretty quickly.
There are tons of other options and some of the cutest hybrid examples I have seen are little 4×4 flip books. Also, many do full 12×12 pages. I do my project in 6×8 size simply because it seems to be the easiest for me to manage. After all, the ultimate goal is to finish the project, right?
I start by finding the perfect set of templates. This year I chose December Memories 2018 by Desgined by Soco.
I create a folder and name it DYD. I have sections for Kits, Foundation Pages, and pages that I intend to share on the web. By doing this, I only have one location I need to go to to find what I need.
Then I start, usually about the middle of November, creating foundation pages. I start adding papers, cards, and elements, and then the numbers for each of the days. These are by no means set in stone. If my photos end up working better on another layout, I simply switch out the numbers. Here are a few of the foundation pages I’ve done so far:
For these pages, I have used pieces by Rachel Jefferies, Sahin Designs, Sahlin Studio, Etc. by Danyale, and Pink Reptile Designs.
I’m almost half way through December and, as long as I stay on track doing a couple of pages a day, I should be ready to go when December starts! Then it’s just time to take the photos and add the journaling! While some like to keep a Christmas theme to their projects, I tend to just document whatever is going on in our lives on that day. Sometimes it is Christmas and sometimes it’s not, but it’s all about the joy of this time of year.
One of our wonderful creative team members at TLP, Farrah, has created a list of prompts that may come in handy if I’m ever stuck for what to photograph.
I will screenshot this image and save it to my phone for easy reference, and I might even make it my phone background for December so that I can remember.
My biggest tip if you are wanting to document your December is to be prepared. Get started early, create foundation pages, and be ready to go when December starts. We all know how busy it can get!
Thanks for stopping by and I’d love to see your December projects!! Until next time… peace, out…
Ha I honestly did not think it had been almost a month since I last posted! Not quite sure what happened but it sure feels like I have been super busy every single day. Just dropping by today to share some fantastic new releases for this week!
I’m hoping to do some more updating soon, maybe this weekend! I am so excited to start planning my December Daily. It really helps keep me and my mind occupied during the cold dark days of winter. Thanks for looking! Peace, out…
Happy Friday!! Friday evenings are a favorite of mine. It is the one day of the week that we just do a lot of nothing. No homework, no chores, no cooking…just relaxing, maybe scrapping or movie watching. This Friday was a bit different because we had the day off due to some pretty significant flooding in the county where I teach. I feel so bad for all those who were affected by it. There were several campgrounds close to the river that were completely under water. I spent the day cleaning the house so that I can enjoy the rest of the weekend. I seriously need to spend as much time as possible catching up on Project Life! I am so many weeks behind and there’s so much more amazing, fun stuff coming up!
I thought I would jump on tonight and share the new releases for this week, and then hopefully be back to share some PL pages as I finish them!
Mondays are not really so simple for me right now. My son, a friend, and I are taking a beginner sign language course and the tech center here in town. We are on week three and I’m really enjoying it. Signing is something I have always wanted to be really good at, but have never taken the time to really learn it. I know a few signs here and there that I have picked up over the years working in Special Education, but I would love to be fluent. I know that this course alone won’t do it for me, but it’s a start!
I wanted to swing by here today and share my Simple Scrapper layouts for October. I love being a part of the team at Simple Scrapper. I really feel like it helps me to create some meaningful, purposeful layouts and inspires me to create pages that I may not have thought of otherwise. The Premium Membership offers exclusive content and a supportive, generous, and inspiring community. Some of the benefits include a private groups, Spark Magazine, chats, podcasts, sketches, and story starters. Totally awesome! And here are my pages:
These were super fun layouts to do and probably things I would not have thought to document if it weren’t for the Story Starters from Simple Scrapper! Check it out for yourself!! Hoping you have a simply wonderful week!! Peace, out…
There is something so wonderful about Fridays! C and I started the day with Starbucks because M had told me that the Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte was so much better than the hot, so I had to try it. Ummm no. Just no. I bought a Venti and didn’t even drink half of it. I’ll stick to the hot, thank you very much. Then we jammed out to Flush the Format on the Kidd Kraddick morning show on the radio. I’ll convert Chance to an 80’s music lover yet haha. Work/school went pretty well, and there’s just something about looking forward to the weekend that makes it better. That and being able to wear jeans!
On the way home, we decided to take advantage of the McDonald’s mobile order and pay to get a couple of large drinks and a free medium fry. We’re loving the deals on the app. I don’t cook on Friday. We either do leftovers, pick up something, or throw a pizza in the oven. It’s the one day of the week that we don’t worry about chores or homework or really anything for that matter. We just chill and sometimes get in a little nap!
The other great thing about Fridays is all the awesome new releases around digi-land, so I thought I’d swing by and share a few!!
At The Lilypad, Just Jaimee has this fantastic new add-on to the September Storyeller. It’s called Then and Now and it’s so beautiful!! I paired it up with the Template add-on for September
Over at The Digital Press, Rachel Etrog has an absolutely gorgeous new kit called Storyteller, and I paired it up with some amazing new templates by Akizo Designs called Autumn Leaves 03.
And at Sweet Shoppe Designs, River~Rose has a gorgeous kit called Magical Forest. I paired it up with some fun new templates called Fall Market by Crystal Livesay.
It’s supposed to rain this weekend, so I plan to spend it trying to catch up on my Project Life. I have several weeks that I need to get done and I’m determined!! I hope you all have a great weekend!! Peace, out…
We are having a lovely rainy day here today. Why do I say lovely? Well, for starters, it’s not snow!! And a long time ago, I was walking my daughter in to kindergarten, grumbling about the rain when she looked up at me and said, “But mommy, if it didn’t rain, there wouldn’t be any puddles to jump in”. I have never looked at rain the same since. We had a crazy busy week, so I’m taking the rain today as a sign to slow down and catch up on a few indoor things that I’ve been neglecting. Plus, I’m getting a little time to scrap and to come by here!
I wanted to take a minute to share what’s new this weekend and the layouts I’ve created!
I’m a little behind on PL right now but only a couple of weeks. I hope to get them caught up quickly. I also have a couple of other layouts for Simple Scrapper that I need to upload and share, but I’ll be back with those 🙂 I hope you have a lovely rest of your weekend!! Until next time…peace, out…
We are over 2 weeks in to spring now, and I am still waiting to see it! I’m looking out my window right now at snow on the ground and more expected tonight. I’m so over it. We have had a few fairly nice days here and there, but no definitive spring yet. That hasn’t stopped the busy from coming though. Baseball practices have started. IEP season at work has started. And the countdown to the end of the school year has started. Sometimes it feels like the days drag and other times it feels like life is going by at lightning speed.
One of the things that brightens every month for me is BYOC at The Lilypad!! Amazing designs that all coordinate so beautifully. And if you haven’t seen this month’s, it is gorgeous!! Here are just a few sample pages by me.
River~Rose also has a gorgeous new collection out this weekend and still on sale – April Rains:
I am working on catching up with Project Life. I only need to do this week’s spread, but I will be taking some photos today to add to it. I’ve got some actual work to do for my IRL job and I guess I need to make that my priority for now. Hope to be back soon with new updates! Hope the rest of your weekend is wonderful and relaxing! Until next time, peace out…..
