Winding down…

Summer is winding down and I am slowly coming to terms with that fact. I’ve had to work several days this last couple of weeks, so I think that’s kind of easing me back in to things. I finished up my transformation of M’s room in to a new office for me and I will share photos of that in a new post. There are a few things I didn’t get to this summer, but no point in stressing about it. It is what it is. We’ve had a good time and been able to do some really fun things. I have one week left and I hope to pack as much fun in to it as possible!

The best thing about it being August for me is the fact that I am a Guest Polly at The Lilypad this month and getting to work with some absolutely amazing designers and scrappers! I think I have scrapped more this week that I have all summer. Look out…here come all the layouts…

It’s going quickly…

Summer vacation, that is. It’s been a short one this year. “They” decided that the school calendar needed adjusting, with school starting and ending earlier. But in order to make that happen, we have to deal with a couple of unusually short summers. I have a couple of weeks left, but, most of this coming week, I will be spending at work on some extra duty building a new curriculum for the coming year. That will leave me with one week to fill with all the things I haven’t been able to do yet. I have accomplished quite a few things, but there is still so much to do. Never enough time. C and I took off last weekend and went to Carowinds with A, his wife, and daughter. We had a blast, but were worn out. I love that we’ve been able to get away some this summer, but it seems like it takes days to get ready before we go and days to recover when we get back. I’ve spent some time working in M’s old room some more this week. We tore up the carpet in there and are almost done painting the sub floor. I just need to get my big area rug and move all of my stuff in there. It will be nice to have my own private space. I’m going to try to post some pictures of the process when I am finished.

It’s an exciting month in my scrappy time. I’m guesting this month at The Lilypad! Also, one of my favorite people, Etc. by Danyale, is also guest designing there this month. I’m super excited. I need to get my gallery here all caught up and get back on track with my Life in Pockets. These are some of the layouts I have created since the last time I was here:

Mellow Monday

I was going to title this post Manic Monday, but it wasn’t really manic at all. I spent the first part of the morning on the deck reading a new book and then cleaned out the hall closet. We had sloppy joes for dinner and I’ve been scrapping ever since. The title also reminds me that next week we will be at the beach and I can eat at one of my favorite places, Mellow Mushroom!

I have training for work tomorrow and working at my dad’s old office with my mom on Wednesday to try to get it cleaned out so they can sell the building. Hoping to get another baseball game in there as well. So, I’ll be back when time allows. Have a great start to the week!

Sweet Sunday

A day of rest. At least I hope to make it that way! It’s been a busy couple of days. We had C’s end of season pool party with his baseball team on Friday night. They are a really great group of kids and everyone had a blast. The moms that worked to put it together did such a great job and the cake was awesome! There were even little jersey shaped cookies with the kids names and numbers on them.

Yesterday, I spent the day cleaning out two rooms of the house. M had come and picked up her bed for her new house, so her room was a complete disaster. I worked most of the day in there. The next step is to paint her BRIGHT pink walls! I’ve been wanting to do that for years!! And then I’m hoping it will become my new craft room. Today, I think we are headed out for a while to eat and just get away from the house.

But first, I wanted to come by and share a couple more layouts that I worked on for this week. Both use All Year Round: Destinations Collection by Traci Reed and Jady Day Studio at Sweet Shoppe. The first is a pocket style page and the second a more traditional layout (using a retired template by Zoliofrope).

In Deep…

Well, I’m in it kind of deep this morning. My PC decided to blue screen on me twice in the last couple of days, so I decided it was time for a long over-due reformat. I’ve had this computer for about 2 years and never done a good hard reformat, but I’ve put it off simply because I did not want to got through setting it all back up. Since all baseball stuff was cancelled for the weekend, and I had a bit of time, I figured it was as good a time as any. We are only going to get busier! Now, here I am, deep in re-installation hell!

I figured I would take a minute out and come share layouts for this weekend before I go any further and before I face-palm because there was something I forgot to back up (it always happens).

Holy Cow…

Yeah, so it’s been a couple of weeks and yeah, same ole busy, busy, busy. I am taking a class this semester and, every little bit of weekend time that I’ve had, I’ve spent working on stuff for the class. It’s interesting stuff, if you like classes on teaching methods, but between that and the usual spring IEP, paperwork, testing, etc, I don’t have much “free” time. We have a 4 day weekend going on right now. That is the extent of our “Spring Break”. I am so envious of those who get a whole week off, but we are on the countdown to the end of the year! I’m also tackling a pretty big project in my time off…painting all my kitchen cabinets. They’ve needed an update for a long time. I got about half way through yesterday and will probably get the other half tomorrow. Today, we are going to color eggs and go to mom’s for dinner.

We got C all signed up for baseball a couple of weeks ago and he had try outs last week. We heard from the manager of the team yesterday and he will get to be #45 (Michael Jordan’s baseball number). Their team is the Giants and we have our meet and greet on Tuesday evening.

I haven’t had a chance to see it in person yet, but M now has a house of her own! I have informed her that she now must come and get all of her stuff haha. I’m dreaming of a craft room! But all of that will probably have to wait until summer, when I have the time to do it.

I have managed to get in some scrapping the last couple of weeks, and pretty much keep up with my weekly spreads. I’ve updated both galleries, but here are some of the pages I’ve managed to squeeze in…

Well…

I’m not really sure where the last few days went, other than we did finally get back to work for 3 days and then off another 2. I am over winter. Fortunately, it does look like the next week or more will be beautiful and no temps below freezing! I also love, love, love the time change! I really do think about this blog every day and say I’m coming to post something and then one thing leads to another and I piddle around and don’t do it. But anyway, I’m here now and wanted to share a few new things for this week!

The Best of Intentions…

So I did plan to come back here a few days ago and share some more wonderful things, but I’m telling you, this weather and time off work have really gotten to me. I have no motivation to do anything. I keep thinking of all the things I could have had done around here with all this time off, and yet I have done nothing. Well, I have cooked, eaten, and washed dishes repeatedly…but nothing extra. I’m not going to spend any more time whining about it. There’s nothing I can do about it, I just wish I could make myself enjoy it a bit more. That hasn’t happened. C is ready to go back to school as well. He keeps saying that he is getting more brain damaged every day. I guess even more so than 9 year olds already are hahaha.

Hump Daaaay!

Yeah, played out, I know! Wednesday has another name around here…just plain ole trash day. That’s how I gauge the days of the week..by what has to be done on certain days. The trash doesn’t really run on Wednesday, but around 6am on Thursday, so out it goes on Wednesday night. And for the record, taking the trash out when it’s bitterly cold really sucks! We also had basketball practice today, getting ready for the game tomorrow. C’s team is undefeated so far! Another busy week. I went to have my nails done yesterday and I get my hair done Friday for the first time since A’s wedding! My roots are baaaaad. There are seriously so many days that I wish I would just go gray already. I’m going to think of them as my natural highlights and let it go. But so far I have only had 2 or 3 here and there.

But I didn’t come here to blab about trash or basketball or hair. I am just swinging by to update my Project Life pages. Four weeks in and keeping up so far. Traci Reed’s Pocket Life ’15: January Collection is just amazing and has made the pages come together so easily. Life and Basketball…

So yeah, life happens and basketball happens. And basketball really takes up a lot of time! That’s where I’ve been…courtside, watching C have a blast. He really loves the game, and while he may not ever be NBA material, he has come so far since he started last year. It does put me in a bind as far as getting things done that I want to get done, but that’s ok…it’s all worth it.

We also had B’s 7th birthday last weekend. It’s so hard to believe she is 7. I don’t know where the time has gone, but she is so great and I am so proud of the dad that A has become. Even with all the obstacles that he and she have faced, they are coming through it and it looks like they are going to be just fine.

I’ve got to do some catching up on getting layouts posted from last week and the new ones for this week! I’ll get them all added to the right pages as soon as I finish this post. I’m really trying hard to keep up with 2 page weekly spreads this year because I love how they come out. We’ll see if time allows me to do that. Traci Reed has a fantastic new PL collection hitting the Sweet Shoppe this weekend and I know that’s going to make it so much easier for me!
