It’s amazing how quickly these days go by! I haven’t accomplished a great deal, but we are enjoying the time, so I guess that’s what matters! I did get a bit of a start on the project that I mentioned in THIS POST. I’m not sure it’s turning out exactly the way I hoped it would, so I’m making a few changes to it. I think I will do a couple of benches to set in different places on the deck, instead of one long one. I think it will turn out much better. I was able to get the pallets and have them cut. Now, I just need to paint them and add some cute cushions. We also spent one day at the pool and of course, yard work has been on the agenda several days. I keep waiting on a rainy day to get some things done in the house, but we haven’t had any haha. I’m not going to complain too much, because last summer all it did was rain.
The last few days have been spent getting ready for C’s birthday. We are having a small family party tomorrow and he is in the process of picking out somewhere he would like to go for his birthday as well. I’m off to pick up cake and supplies tomorrow and one more gift that I haven’t picked up yet. Hard to believe my baby will be 9. One more year of single digits.
In the scrappy world, there are so absolutely fabulous new releases this week. If you haven’t been out and about in the the stores, you really should go…now! Here are the layouts I’ve done this week for the amazing ladies who allow me to be on their teams:
Hope you have a fabulous weekend! Here’s to slower summer days!!
I am on summer vacation! Woot! It started about 3 days ago and I’ve pretty much been a sloth. Sometimes it takes a bit of adjusting to go from 900 mph to 0. Here are a few of the things that I’ve learned on my summer vacation so far:
1. My dog does not understand the concept and is going to have to be convinced that waking me up at 5-something is no longer necessary.
2. The rice trick for cell phones that have gotten wet really does work (not that I would drop one in the toilet or anything hehe).
3. Riding mowers are nice, but pushing is much better exercise! *Note to self – get riding mower fixed*
4. Driving the long way to Beckley to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings is not so bad…and saves $$!
So far, so good, right?
I’ve also managed to get the lattice under the deck fixed from aforementioned dog tearing it up…for the second time. And I have not given up on the pallet deck furniture that I am hoping to put together. M’s boyfriend is supposed to bring his truck up here on Saturday and help me go on a pallet hunt. But I am also babysitting my granddaughter, so not sure what the day will hold. I’m thinking movie time for her and C. R will be sleeping, so I need to find some way to keep them quiet haha.
I have been doing quite a bit of scrapping the last few days as well. And I am only one week behind on my Project Life pages! I have updated that page with the most recent. There is so much goodness in the stores this week. The designers never cease to amaze me! Check out some of this gorgeous stuff:
Aren’t those some gorgeous kits? I had so much fun creating layouts with them. I’m off to finish up chores and maybe read a little today! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!
At the end of the day tomorrow, it will officially be summer vacation! Can’t I get a WooHooo! In case you didn’t know, teachers are wayyy more excited about it than the students ha! The last couple of weeks have been kind of crazy, hence my lack of posting, but I’m going to try to do some catching up. Two of the three children have had birthdays come and go. A turned 23 *gasp* and M turned 19. How in God’s name do I have children who are so old? We went out to dinner on both occasions, only a few days late on the oldest because he was away with National Guard duties. In addition to that my granddaughter graduated from Kindergarten and also had a dance recital that we’ve attended. Check out my instagram if you want to see photos of any of the above.
Before I get to sharing scrapping stuff, I just have to take a minute to confess a parenting fail. I was watching Forrest Gump last night with M and her boyfriend and it came to the part where Forrest is on the Dick Cavett Show with John Lennon. BF (who is 20) says, “What did John Lennon do?”, to which M replied, “Wasn’t he in a band or something?”. Where did I go wrong that my children do not know The Beatles. As someone said in a comment to me on Facebook, guess they weren’t more popular than Jesus after all.
Ok…on to scrappy business. I am so totally stoked. I have just recently acquired 2 guest spots that I am over the moon about. One is for Scooty’s Designs at Pickleberry Pop. If you haven’t seen her stuff, you must check it out! And the other is for Little Butterfly Wings at The Lily Pad. Omgosh, I have been a fan of hers for soooo long. You’ll see pages with their stuff in my long list of layouts, since I am so far behind. And hopefully I’ll get all caught up on Project Life in the next few days.
Here’s what I’ve been up to lately:
I think that’s it for today! Hopefully with more time on my hands, I’ll be back more often. 🙂
I hope everyone is having tons of fun with cook-outs, family, and friends! And I hope that everyone takes a moment to remember why we have this day and think of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Not much going on here today. R is working night shift, so he will be sleeping most of the day. C and I went out for ice cream and shakes yesterday and I got all the chores done, so I’m hoping to relax with the sun and a good book. I have been trying to get through Allegiant since the fall! I also have a bit of paper work to do, but I’m going to enjoy the day as much as possible! Ribs are marinating for the grill later! M is gone to Pigeon Forge with her BF and his family for the weekend and A is on a mission with the National Guard for 2 weeks.
I did get a bit of scrapping done amidst the crazy last week. The designers I CT for never cease to amaze me with their creations!
Hoping to get a little more scrapping done later today, but now I am off to enjoy the sunshine 🙂 Have a wonderful Memorial Day and rest of the week!!
So, what else is new…right? haha This last week was a pretty busy one. I had all the kiddos here for Mother’s Day which was awesome and the rest of the week was spent getting C ready to take his first SOL’s. I won’t get off on that subject, because as a teacher and a parent, it could get pretty long winded! I don’t anticipate the craziness letting up any time soon, but counting the days until there is nothing 🙂 Friday was kind of tough because it would have been my daddy’s 77th birthday. I miss him so much…every single day. He was my rock and the one person I could always count on to be there for me without judgement or hesitation. My Throwback Thursday this week was just for him…
I also managed to squeeze in a little scrapping this week. Lots of gorgeous stuff out there in the shops. I’m so fortunate to create for some amazing ladies.
I am almost up to date on PL as well. I just need to do this week…as soon as I gather the photos off my camera and phone.
Off to get some things done around the house and probably scrap a bit later. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
I always have the best time looking back through old photos and trying to decide on my Throwback Thursday (#tbt). I try to rotate through all of my children and throw in a little of my childhood sometimes. This week I chose one of my favorites of A when he was about 4. This photo was taken on a road trip to Kings Island. Not sure exactly why he put the Happy Meal box on his head, he’s just goofy like that.
I didn’t scrap much at all this week. Most of the designers that I CT for took the week off. I think everyone was a little hungover and needed a break from iNSD. So, I just have a couple of layouts to share.
Tracy’s kits always make me happy and this one is no exception. Her papers are drool worthy, let me just tell you. New this week from Tracy Martin is Little Sew & Sew. I paired it up with an awesome new template from Andrea – Little Green Frog – called Rule of Thumb. These are awesome!!
And new this week are some more awesome templates by Cheryl – Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs. These are called Fuss Free: My Scrapbook Art 2. I paired it up with a gorgeous kit by Etc by Danyale called Garden View. Goes right along with the flower love I have going on right now!
So excited that tomorrow is Friday and we are going to be under 20 days of school left! Wooo Hooo!! Hope you all have a wonderful end to your week!!
Wow, this was one crazy week. Both in the scrap world and in real life. You can tell it’s getting close to the end of the school year because everyone is getting on each others’ nerves every day. And I’m not just talking about the students, the teachers can be just as bad haha. We are down to just over a month left and I’m not sure there is anyone more excited than me. The past couple of summers and just been, well, crappy. I mean I appreciated the time off, but they weren’t the rejuvenating fun filled times that they should have been. I’m so hoping that this summer is full of fun and memories and sunshine (unlike the rainy one last year).
We also got to do a little celebrating this weekend. My oldest proposed to his girlfriend at Disney World last week, so we all got together for dinner on Friday with her family for a little celebration. She is a wonderful girl and her family seems lovely. I wish them a lifetime of happiness.
In the scrappy world, iNSD is in full swing. There are games, chats, challenges, gifts, sales, and fun everywhere! It’s hard to keep up. I’ll be honest, I tend to bury my head in the sand on some of these big event days because it’s all so overwhelming. The past few years, I haven’t been around much for this one, because it always seemed to fall on prom weekend. No proms this year…kids are grown up. Well, except the one, and I have a few years with him before I start all over and honestly, boys are much easier than girls ha. So, I did manage to scrap quite a bit. There were a few things I had to pass on because I just ran out of time. But I can tell you, these designers work their butts off for this day. I don’t know how they do it all. Here are the pages I managed to get done during the craziness:
Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend. I am going to mow the lawn and do one of my favorite things ever….plant flowers!! 🙂
Happy Friday, everyone! I so totally love Fridays! Our one day of the week to come home and just chill. No homework to be done, no dinner cooking, no chores, no nothing….just time to breathe again. I swear 3rd grade homework is going to be the death of me!
Thought I would take a minute to drop by and share the rest of my layouts for this week. There some fantastic stuff hitting the stores.
